For years I’ve played with my bowl of oats. I love to create new recipes for breakfast with all types of fresh ingredients. This bowl of Honey Blueberry Persimmon Oatmeal is one I came up with long ago when I first started working from home. The blueberries and persimmon are caramelized in honey and place delicately over the top of the maple brown sugar oats from Quaker® Oats.
Then I heard about their contest for the best bowl. I ran over to Kroger to pick up some Quaker® Oats maple brown sugar, a fresh persimmon, and some blueberries. I have local honey that I use to caramelize the fruit. Love to enter food contests but this is pretty neat because they are going to market the winners product and sell it in stores. How fun is that!

I have endless ways to make oats like these. From cranberries in the winter, pumpkin and brown sugar in the fall, and pineapple and mango in the summer. Oats are so versatile which makes playing with your food endless hours of fun.
Keeping a box of Quaker® Oats in the pantry for late night snack is such a wonderful idea. Pizza gives me heartburn so when I want a late night snack I can hit the pantry for a bowl of oats. My son’s love this to my surprise. HONEY BLUEBERRY PERSIMMON OATMEAL
The blueberries and persimmon are caramelized in honey and place delicately over the top of the maple brown sugar oats from Quaker® Oats.
- 10 to 15 blueberries
- 1 persimmon; diced
- 1 tablespoon honey
- a packet of maple brown sugar Quaker® Oats
- In a bowl, add Quaker® Oats and cook as directed on package.
- In a small pan, add diced persimmons, blueberries, and honey. Bring to a low heat and caramelize the persimmons and blueberries.
- Top oatmeal with persimmons and blueberries. Serve!
