For well over a year I have said that I wanted to grow my Eateries section here on the blog. Funny enough I was offered to visit P.F. Chang’s for a review. I jumped at the chance since I have yet to eat there. Plus why not grow that Eateries section right?
I called the other half, Vojta, and said we are going to P.F. Chang’s for date night. Now see this is an adventure for us since getting him to go further than down the street to eat is like seriously taking candy from a 2 year old. He simply says no. To my shocking surprise he said yes immediately. This excited lady was already dressed and impatiently waiting when he got home. We found the location pretty easy and didn’t even have much of a wait.
We started off with Long Island Rum Tea and a Red Sangria. He got the tea and I got the sangria but with the idea to share and taste everything. The Jamaica pork tacos featured above where delicious and I would eat those if they just had a huge plate of them. While we sipped on our drinks and taste tested the pork tacos and the California Roll our server was extremely helpful. She was patient too! Since we had never been we had some fun making decisions on what to try.
We were laughing about how he couldn’t figure out how to use the chopsticks as well as I could. He used them for most of the meal though. He was sure to use a fork when it came to the rice. I teased him. Rice can be fairly difficult. We decided on pork fried rice and BEEF Á LA SICHUAN. What I wouldn’t give to have a bowl of that right now. The crispy beef with a bit of spice and the plethora of spring onions. This dish just screams to me. It has some of my most favorite elements in cooking.
Near the end of dinner I noticed they had saki. Immediately I said we have to get some! I usually like warm saki but decided to ask the server which would be good for Vojta as he is pretty new to saki. She suggested the Raspberry chilled saki. It was fabulous! Perfect suggestion. The management talked to us a bit and since we were first timers they even gave us BOTH $10 off of $40 for our next visits. I know where I will be suggesting for my birthday 🙂
Here is a few tidbits about what P.F. Chang’s is doing lately.
It’s simple to remember: ‘3 to 7’ means 3 to 7 pm with prices from $3 to $7. Guests can add a little fizz to the day during the new, extended P.F. Chang’s happy hour, with specials served from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Monday through Friday. Guests seated in the bar and patio can order small plates, sushi and appetizers ranging from $3.00 to $7.00. Beer, wine and specialty cocktails are available for the same price range. Specialty cocktails include Red Sangria, Chang’s Mai Tai, Twisted Whiskey Sour, and the Organic Agave Margarita.
New Sushi, Small Bites & Wine Flights Wednesdays:
Culinary adventure shouldn’t just be reserved for the weekend. Starting July 23, all P.F. Chang’s in the Dallas area will feature “Sushi, Small Bites & Wine Flights Wednesdays,” allowing guests to experience a flight of three wines expertly paired with new sushi and small plates. Pick your pairings and your price range with two menu options for $25.00 and $35.00. Available all day for dine-in guests. (this is those super tacos we had and the sushi comes in)
P.F. Chang’s is hosting a contest called “Spark Something New.” The contest will run from July 29th through September 15th. A winner will be chosen at the end of the campaign. Each participant will have the opportunity to win a 4-course pairing dinner including new small plates and sushi for 8. Participants must be 21 or over to enter.
