California Pizza Kitchen just released their latest cookbook, Taste of the Seasons in celebration of its 30th Anniversary this year. The cookbook is filled with CPK’s most popular menu items and emphasizes bringing the best of each season’s harvest to your table with restaurant-style recipes that you can make at home. Recipes include a Shaved Vegetable Salad featuring ribbons of radish, carrots, fennel and sweet snow peas and yummy summer sweets like Strawberry Shortcake with candied basil — great recipes to get anyone ready for spring cooking. The cookbook also includes recipes for signature CPK pizzas and details on CPK chefs’ search-and-source methods.
California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) has published “Taste of the Seasons,” the fourth volume in the restaurant’s popular series of cookbooks, presenting sought-after recipes for many classic CPK seasonal menu items.
Inspired by the fresh ingredients offered up by Mother Nature during specific times of the year, “Taste of the Seasons” is a collection of flavorful and wholesome salads, meals, desserts and drinks that make the most of the fresh foods that are specifically available during spring, summer, autumn and winter. Created by California Pizza Kitchen’s top chefs Brian Sullivan and Paul Pszybylski, each straightforward and easy-to-follow recipe includes prep and cook times as well as serving sizes and beautiful photographic images of each creation.
In addition to the classic CPK BBQ Chicken Pizza, Sunny-Side-Up Potato and Bacon Pizza, California Club Pizza and Roasted Garlic Chicken Pizza, recipes found in “Taste of the Seasons” include Korean Sweet Chili Wings, Chicken Tequila Pasta, Miso Mango Salad, Fire-Grilled Rib eye with Roasted Potato Salad and Oven-Dried Tomatoes, Strawberry Shortcake with Candied Basil and Winter White Sangria, among many others.
The cookbook also contains instructions for such important basic recipes as Neapolitan Pizza Sauce, Tarragon Vinaigrette, Crispy Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Caramelized Onions.
CPK’s Senior Vice President of Culinary Development and co-author Brian Sullivan said, “We’ve written this book to showcase cooking with in-season ingredients. Meals are not only more flavorful when using fresh seasonal foods, but they’re also less expensive to make because the basic elements are more plentiful when in season. This cookbook shows you how to use what’s available during different times of the year.”
Paul Pszybylski, CPK’s Senior Director of Culinary Innovation and co-author of “Taste of the Seasons” added, “All fruits and veggies have their natural harvesting season. Cooking with freshly sourced foods not only makes meals taste better, but they’re more nutritious, too. I think this book offers a lot of new and fun ideas for family meals.”
All proceeds from sales of “Taste of the Seasons” will be donated to children’s charities.
The first assumption is that this book would be stocked full of pizza recipes. While it does have some pizza recipes like Sunny-Side-Up Potato and Bacon Pizza, California Club Pizza and Roasted Garlic Chicken Pizza it also comes with “Taste of the Seasons” which include Korean Sweet Chili Wings, Miso Mango Salad, Winter White Sangria, and even desserts with Greek yogurt panna cotta with fresh pomegranate. Each recipe focus’ on the season and what is fresh in that season. These are seriously my favorite types of cook books that go by the season and contain many pictures. Being a visual person pictures are important. The photography in this book is amazing making every item looks completely scrumptious. The husband and I couldn’t pick this book down. It will be a cherished addition to our collection. The panna cotta is simply delicious!
