Best Hotel In San Antonio: Hotel Contessa
We finally got a chance to go on vacation. It’s been a grueling year with new jobs, color guard, and just the normality of life. When we stepped foot into Hotel Contessa that all seemed to slip away. This hotel is seriously beautiful from the sweep scapes of the Riverwalk to the restaurant Las Ramblas that sits at the foot of the Riverwalk along with the stunning Cork Bar.
Hotel Contessa is a four-star, all-suite boutique hotel on San Antonio’s River Walk with 265-rooms on 12 floors. We stayed on the 10th floor. You can get city or river view. Coming down the elevator like in the video below their is the lovely 2nd floor balcony great for a few cocktails.
You can drop down to the bottom floor where you can visit the Cork Bar. Around the corner from the Cork Bar is the Las Ramblas the restaurant where you can find a high end dinner or breakfast buffet in the morning that anyone would love! Seriously, this was one of my favorite parts of this hotel the lovely breakfast and view of the Riverwalk in the morning.
Location:
Hotel Contessa, which is a four star hotel with approximate pricing in the $200 to $300 range, is located at 306 West Market Street in the heart of downtown. Its central location is within walking distance to many destinations. Including, the Alamo, Riverwalk, Ripley’s (believe of not, wax museum, haunted museum, 4D moving theater), and plenty of restaurants, shops, and even the Riverwalk mall.
Hotel Contessa is 10 miles south of the San Antonio Airport. It offers unlimited in-and-out valet parking for $36/day. SeaWorld isn’t far off with it’s water park Aquatica it might be a wonderful idea if your driving into San Antonio especially in July.
Room Features:
Hotel Contessa suites have a front room like you see above with a table, couch, chair, TV, and desk. I love that this was separate for others when getting dressed, not wanting to wake others, and even if you had guests.
The table has magazines with activities to do around San Antonio. From this room it leads you to hall which on one side has a bathroom with granite counters, real tile, and enjoy the space to actually change in the bathroom!
This is one wonderful feature my daughter bragged about.
Then she saw the candy which comes with a price list. Great if you want snacks in the middle of the night. Located in that section is also a mini fridge already stocked and prices are listed with the candy. They also have an in room safe. Along with coffee and tea that’s complimentary.
The hall leads to the room which comes with two beds, a lamp, and TV. In closet is extra textiles and the lamp has a plug in for your cell phone. Which made great for all three of us trying to charge devices. The room has a nice wood door that closes you off from the rest of the suite.
Misses:
The main miss was in room that they did not have liquid creamer and more than one packet of sugar. This isn’t a big deal and I am sure room service would have brought it but we never asked and moved on.
When we first got to our room as a special treat for us as a blogger they brought us water and strawberries! I loved this since it was super hot outside and especially more humid in San Antonio versus Dallas.
Activites:
The rooftop pool while small is a very cool feature. They also have a business center and the balcony that over looks the Riverwalk. Most of your activities will be on the Riverwalk itself. Wi Fi is free in the hotel.
Dining:
The Hotel Contessa has it’s own restaurant Las Ramblas with indoor and outdoor seating which is next to the Riverwalk. Birds will fly to your table and ducks will swim magically along the Riverwalk.
While I know you will have the urge to feed the ducks they ask that you don’t. The breakfast buffet is $16.95 for adults, $6.50 for kids. Features all your favorites including pancakes, bacon, and plenty of juices. The dinner is a bit on the higher end.
We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel we visited the Riverwalk for dinner. Plenty of Mexican food can be found on the Riverwalk along with just about anything else you would like. If you can’t find it just visit the mall. We enjoyed the Republic of Texas and Casa Rio.
We will definitely be back. While I have stayed in many nice hotels my husband has not. He seriously loved the Riverwalk and Hotel Contessa. The vibe is a South Texas feel! We enjoyed that and especially the 2nd floor balcony for drinks while enjoying the river and the skyline of buildings. That’s what is so unique about the Riverwalk and the beautiful Hotel Contessa!
