When it comes to holidays like 4th of July making dinner easy is key. For our family we like to have drinks, watch fireworks. and swim. Food is definitely on the agenda but easy because it’s way too hot to be standing over stove. Try these 15 wicked delicious hot dogs to pop on the grill and serve up at your 4th of July parties.
Detroit Coney Island Dog
Let’s start off with one of my personal favorites. While a good coney island hot dog is just tradition I like the Detroit version that is topped with mustard. Maybe it’s because I’m a firm believer that mustard is a must on a hot dog. Tell my 10 year old self that and it would have been ketchup all the way. Funny how we change. Chili, cheese, onions, and mustard make this hot dog.
All American Hot Dog
It’s can’t be July fourth with out an all american hot dog. Topped with relish, mustard, and ketchup it’s the basic of all hot dogs. Serve it up on a nicely grilled hot dog. Hence, don’t forget to toast up the bun for extra tasty goodness. We serve these up in red baskets for the overall feel of that’s truly a backyard barbecue.
Carolina hot Dog
This is probably the hot dog my kids give me a big eww when they see it. My kids are not fans of coleslaw. However, I can eat coleslaw by the buckets. Barbecue sauce along with the coleslaw make for a very non traditional hot dog. Want to add some extra flavor? Wrap the hot dog in bacon before grilling and toast up the bun. Although, you may want to try a vinegar based sauce.
Other Hot Dogs:
Some other hot dogs to try from other states are the Chicago hot dog, Dallas hot dog, New York hot dog, and Seattle dog. The Seattle dog is a hot dog topped with cream cheese and sauteed onions. The Chicago dog is hot dog is topped with yellow mustard, chopped white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices or wedges, pickled sport peppers and a dash of celery salt.
The Dallas Dog is a hot dog chicken fried and topped with mashed potatoes and gravy. Because other than our barbecue it’s all about the chicken fried steak. The New York dog is hot dog that in the Big Apple is traditionally topped with a spicy brown mustard and either sauerkraut or onions sautéed with tomato paste.
