I have to admit that I leave up my 4th of July decorations all the way through Labor Day. Geez and every time I hear Labor Day I think of the movie quote from Dukes of Hazzard “Don’t you know you’re not supposed to wear white after Labor Day?” Makes me laugh every time because I wear black year round. I don’t think I own anything clothing wise in white for that matter. White is just not a slimming color. Anyway, for the 4th of July I made these Patriotic Summer Vases.
The Patriotic Summer Vases are made from items easily bought at Dollar Tree.
- 1 pair of patriotic flip flops
- red bead necklaces
- small american flags
- patriotic pinwheels
- patriotic leis
- tall glass vases
- patriotic garland
In the vase, I added the garland and bead necklaces about three to each jar. Then I add in one leis. Place the flip flop to the back of the vase then add the pinwheel and flag to the front. I made two since everything is pretty much more than one when you buy it. I also use them to decorate around my July 4th patriotic printable.
I have a cute cubby hole I place seasonal decor in. These would go great on a mantle or entry table in the hall near your front door. They can also be used as center pieces for a holiday gathering. If your having a patriotic style wedding this is an inexpensive way to do your main centerpieces for a long table. As you can see they are very versatile. To add a little extra to the look you can paint the glass vases with layers of silver glitter paint. You have to paint this in layers for it to really show up. When it does it’s adorable in the light. For storage when I don’t use them I put them in a small plastic container labeled summer.
